If you have a cognitive impairment or mobility issue, you can ask for help to leave your building in an emergency. You can also request a Person-Centred Fire Risk Assessment.
Fire safety in communal areas
Communal areas and exits need to be kept clear so that you and your neighbours can escape in the event of a fire. You can find out what can be stored in communal areas.

Answering the door to strangers
Council officers, contractors and utility company employees carry identity cards. If you’re unsure about someone on your doorstep, ring their office before you let them in. A genuine visitor will always understand.

If you’re burgled
If an attempted break-in or burglary causes damage, you’re responsible for replacing broken glass or glazing if you do not have a crime reference number (CAD). You should:
- report it to the Police to get a CAD number
- contact us on 020 7974 4444 to report the incident and provide us with the CAD number

As your landlord, we’re responsible for insuring your building. You’re responsible for insuring the contents of your home.

Stolen keys or fobs
We do not keep spare keys to your home. If your front door keys are lost or stolen, you must replace them yourself. If your keys are lost or stolen at the same time as items with your address, you should change your locks.
