Voting at a polling station

Your poll card

You will be sent a poll card just before an election or referendum. You can only vote at the polling station listed on your poll card. 

You do not need to bring your poll card to vote in person, but you do need to show your voter ID.

When you can vote

Polling stations are open from 7am to 10pm on the day of an election.

How to vote in person

The Electoral Commission website has information on how to vote in person.

You will need to bring your photo ID to be able to vote. Find out about accepted voter ID.

Voting by proxy

If you are voting on behalf of someone else, you need to show you own photo ID. 

If you are a nominated proxy and cannot get to your polling station, you will need to contact [email protected] to arrange to cast your proxy vote by post.
