Taxicard

If you have serious mobility impairment or have difficulty in using public transport, you can apply for a Taxicard. This gives subsidised transport in licensed London taxis and private hire vehicles.

The maximum cost reimbursed and the fare limit depends on the time of the trip.

Who can apply

You can apply if you live in a London borough and you:

  • receive the Higher Rate Disability Living Allowance for getting around
  • have 8, 10 or 12 points for the moving around component of Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • receive a pensioners' mobility supplement
  • are registered blind or severely sight impaired and have a CVI certificate

You can also apply if you have a long-term mobility problem preventing you from using public transport. You may need to complete a mobility assessment with an occupational therapist.

You cannot apply if you have a Non-Visible Disability or a temporary mobility condition.

How to apply

To apply for the London Taxicard scheme, complete the application form. Print it out to complete, or email us to request a printed form to be posted to you. You must include a photograph with your application form.
