State of the Borough: Good Health and Wellbeing

Our communities should support good health, wellbeing and connection for all so that they can start well, live well and age well.

The report focuses on the outcomes that are important for living a good life in Camden, based on the Good Life Camden (GLC) framework. This identifies the things that are important and how to measure them.

Health and wellbeing

  • Nearly 4 in 5 adults are physically active, and almost 2 in 5 eat the recommended 5 portions of fruit and vegetables each day
  • In 2024, the number of new sexually transmitted diseases declined to 1,926 per 100,000 people - this is higher than the London average of 1,368
  • In 2023, life expectancy at birth in Camden was 80 years for males and 85.5 years for females

 

Camden schools health

In 2025, Camden state primary and secondary schools took part in the Health-Related Behaviour Questionnaire survey:

  • 80% of primary school students have something to eat or drink at home before school; 57% of secondary school students do
  • More than half of all students have experienced bullying in the past
  • 71% of primary school students and 58% of secondary school students said they were either very happy or quite happy with life
