Solo motorcycle parking bays

If you do not have a valid parking permit, you will need to pay to park in a solo motorcycle bay from 10 February.

There will be different charges for electric and non-electric motorcycles, with lower fees for electric models to encourage cleaner travel.

This is part of our commitment to cleaner air and healthier streets

Where the changes are happening

The changes will be made within the existing bays and will not reduce the number of spaces available for motorcyclists. Only motorcycles can park in solo motorcycle bays.

A full list of locations where these changes apply is available in the published Traffic Management Order (TMO)

Fees and charges

If you have a valid resident, business, or doctor parking permit for a motorcycle, then you can park in the solo motorcycle bays of your controlled parking zone without additional charge.

If you have a visitor who uses a motorcycle and needs to park then you can use a visitor permit, business short stay permit or pay for parking via the RingGo app.

All other motorcyclists will need to pay for parking by using the RingGo app, as detailed on local signs next to the solo motorcycle parking bay.

The current Pay for Parking daily fee is:

  • Electric motorcycles: 66p per day
  • Non-electric motorcycles: £1.30 per day
