Find out how much a resident parking permit will cost you.
How the charges are worked out
The cost of a resident permit depends on:
- how long the permit is for (6 months or 12 months)
- the fuel type of the vehicle (electric, petrol or diesel)
- the vehicle’s CO₂ emissions (g/km)
Electric vehicles pay the lowest price. Petrol and diesel vehicles pay more, because of the pollution they produce. Diesel vehicles cost the most.
We apply an air quality surcharge to petrol vehicles that do not meet the Euro 6 standard (first registered prior to September 2015) and diesel vehicles that are not Euro 6d and Euro 6d-TEMP compliant (first registered prior to September 2019).
Check how much your permit will cost
- Check the vehicle’s fuel type and emissions on the DVLA vehicle checker.
- Once you know the emissions, check the permit charge by using the relevant table.
- If your vehicle is not Euro 6 compliant as outlined above, add the petrol or diesel air quality surcharge to the permit charge. There is no surcharge for electric vehicles.
