Financial support and money advice

If you are struggling to afford essentials or are in an emergency financial situation, our Money Advice team may be able to help you with:

  • a Crisis Payment of up to £500, from the Government funded Crisis and Resilience Fund or the Cost of Living Fund
  • advice to increase your income and making sure you are receiving all the benefits you should be
  • advice to help you manage any debts you may have
  • wider financial support, including help with housing costs (Housing Payments)

To apply for help from our Money Advice team, read the information below and complete the form. It takes around 25 minutes. A member of our Money Advice team will respond within 10 working days.

If you're a private renter or housing association resident, you can also email Camden Federation of Private Tenants (CFPT) at [email protected] to book an appointment. They can support you to complete an application.

Who can get support

You may be able to get a Crisis Payment if you:

  • are a Camden resident – and are able to provide evidence of this
  • are the main tenant or Council Tax payer or been placed by Camden into temporary accommodation or are registered as homeless
  • are over 16 years old and living independently, or 18 years old and over 
  • are experiencing a crisis or sudden financial shock
  • have not reached the maximum number of awards for the period  

We will look at your individual circumstances to decide whether we can offer support. If you need help with housing costs, we may also look at whether a Housing Payment or other support is more suitable.

What you’ll need to complete the form

  • details of benefits you receive
  • your most recent bank statements for all current and savings accounts
  • any available evidence of debt that’s relevant to your application

We ask for this information so we understand your financial situation and provide the right support.
