Incentives for cycling and cargo bikes

If you would like to try a pedal bike, folding bike, e-bike or an e-cargo bike, take a look at the incentives and programmes we are offering. 

Try Before You Bike 

At Try Before You Bike, you will get: 

  • free bicycle delivery to your door with accessories, including helmet, lights and lock
  • pay monthly options, with an easy to order process 
  • affordable purchase options, compatible with Cycle To Work  
  • free collection, if you decide it's not for you 

Manual bicycle

You can choose from a child's bicycle, folding bicycle or hybrid adult bike.

  • £40 per month off any pedal bike for 5 months - £200 subsidy

Electric bike

  • £60 per month off any electric bike for four months – £240 subsidy

Borrow a Brompton bicycle

Borrow a fold-up bicycle for FREE for 4 weeks. Email [email protected] for details and availability.  

A Brompton is a folding bike which is ideal for carrying around. You can store it in tight spaces and easily take it on public transport.

Our Bike

Hire an e-cargo bike on-street from 16 locations across the borough, for £5 an hour. Visit the OurBike website for locations and how to book through the app.

No need to store your own cargo bike, just book it and go.

Cargo Collective

Take the guesswork out of buying a cargo bike for your family by joining Cargo Collective and meet up with other families at a ‘Cargo Bikes and Cakes’ event this summer (2026).  Get peer-to-peer advice on what would work for your family, including trying out a few options.
