Housing options for non-resident leaseholders on redeveloped estates

If you’re a non-resident leaseholder and your estate is redeveloped, you will be offered the market value of your property and statutory compensation payments. These are determined by the Land Compensation Act 1973.

Access to new homes

Non-resident leaseholders are not offered any special terms to buy a property on the developed estate.

If you have private tenants

If you have private tenants you'll need to:

  • sign and return the offer letter
  • confirm the steps you’re taking to end the tenancy
  • review your tenancy agreement and serve the appropriate legal notice
  • allow enough time for the tenancy to end lawfully

The property must be vacant at the point of sale.

Before you serve notice, you should make sure you understand your obligations under the Renters’ Rights Act
