Camden Smoke Control Order 2025

This order covers the whole of the London Borough of Camden and supersedes all previous smoke control orders.

Citation 

1. This Order may be cited as The London Borough of Camden Smoke Control Order 2025. 

Commencement 

2. This Order shall come into operation 2 November 2025 and shall continue in force until varied or revoked. 

Declaration and Application 

3. The London Borough of Camden declares the whole of the borough to be a smoke control area for the purposes of the Clean Air Act 1993. The extent of the smoke control area is shown in the map annexed at Schedule 1 to this Order. This Order applies to all buildings, fireplaces, appliances, fixed boilers or industrial plants within the smoke control area unless otherwise excluded from the operation of Schedule 1A to the Clean Air Act 1993. This Order also applies to vessels moored within the smoke control area which are, accordingly, subject to Schedule 1A to the Clean Air Act 1993, unless otherwise excluded. 

Exemptions 

4. There are no buildings, appliances, fireplaces, fixed boilers, industrial plants or vessels that are exempt from the operation of Schedule 1A to the Clean Air Act 1993 under this Order. 

The order is made on 1 May 2025.

The common seal of the Mayor and Burgesses of the London Borough of Camden was affixed in the presence of Joyce Golder, Head of Legal Services and Deputy Borough Solicitor, the officer duly authorised on behalf of the Council.
