Camden's Peer Review

Corporate Peer Challenges are offered and run by the Local Government Association as part of their work on improvement and assurance for local government. This offer is intended to support continuous improvement across local government.

The peer review is not mandatory or a formal inspection, but it is a chance for the council to get feedback from local government colleagues on what it is doing well, what could be done differently and ideas for the future.

A Corporate Peer Challenge for Camden Council took place in November 2025 and was conducted by a Peer Team led by the Chief Executive of Hackney Council and the Leader of Milton Keynes City Council, and also including senior officers from Manchester City Council, Liverpool City Council, and Wigan Metropolitan Borough Council and officers from the Local Government Association.

Camden Council asked the Peer Team to focus on how we might do more to promote inclusive economic growth, recognising that Camden is home to very significant economic opportunities but that these are not always accessible to Camden residents.

Following a Corporate Peer Challenge, a report outlining the key findings and recommendations from the Peer Team is shared with the host council. In the spirit of openness and transparency, host councils are asked to publish their reports.
