Camden advocacy policy
Having the option to bring friends, relatives or professionals into conversations can be a huge help for people in their interactions with the Council. Advocates do important work in helping people to be heard who might otherwise face barriers.
We want to ensure that advocacy arrangements are safe, effective and underpinned by a common understanding. This is where the Camden Advocacy Policy comes in.
The policy provides guidance for staff, residents and people who wish to advocate on behalf of others. It includes our ways of working, which are key to how we enable safe and effective advocacy and ensure the best outcomes for residents.

Accompanying the policy is a transparent, fair and consistent procedure for situations where a person acting as an advocate (or ‘representative’) behaves unreasonably. Camden will not tolerate unreasonable behaviour and will act according to this procedure when necessary to protect residents and staff.
