Business and car club permit charges

Find out how much it will cost you for a:

  • business permit
  • business motorcycle permit
  • car club permit
  • business permit for a doctors surgery or practice

How the charges are worked out 

The cost of a business or car club permit depends on: 

  • the fuel type of the vehicle (electric, petrol or diesel)  
  • the vehicle’s CO₂ emissions (g/km) 

All permits are valid for 12 months.  

You can only get a car club permit if the vehicle’s emissions are 150g per km or under.  

Check how much your permit will cost  

  1. Check the vehicle’s fuel type and emissions on the DVLA vehicle checker.  
  2. Once you know the emissions, check the permit charge by using the relevant table. 
  3. Add the petrol or diesel air quality surcharge to the permit charge. There is no surcharge for electric vehicles.
