  • speak to a council officer through a BSL interpreter
  • make a service request or report a problem
  • get help with forms or applications

How SignVideo works

You can use SignVideo any time, day or night.

It’s free when you connect over WiFi. If you’re using your mobile data allowance, it works the same as a normal video call.

You can either use SignVideo online or during a face-to-face visit.

SignVideo online

You’ll need a phone, tablet or computer with a good internet connection to use SignVideo online.

You can also use the public PCs available on the ground floor of our offices at 5 Pancras Square.

  1. When you start, you will connect with a qualified BSL interpreter by video.
  2. They will call our contact centre on a dedicated phone line and we will link you to the right service.
  3. The interpreter will support your conversation in real-time.

Connect to a BSL interpreter

You can also download the SignVideo app on your mobile device

SignVideo during a face-to-face visit

You can also use SignVideo when you visit our offices or meet with Council staff.

  1. Tell the person you are in contact with beforehand that you will need an interpreter
  2. Connect to a BSL interpreter in the same way as SignVideo online
  3. You and the council officer stay in the same room while the interpreter supports the conversation
