Active for Life

Active for Life is a 12 week campaign to help Camden residents aged 60+ get and stay active. 

We’re running it for a second time after positive feedback from participants in 2024. If you want to be more active, join hundreds of local residents taking part and sign up below to get started. 

After Active for Life

  • 64% of Camden residents felt more confident exercising  
  • 76% knew how to find free of low-cost activities near them  
  • 63% tried new at-home exercises  

Reasons to join Active for Life  

When you join, you can:  

  • Try free taster classes to explore new ways to be active  
  • Meet other participants at social drop-ins at our partner venues  
  • Pick up a free resistance band from one of our partner venues to exercise at home  
  • Explore your local Better Leisure Centre at one of our Active for Life open days and enjoy free taster classes  
  • Get 12 weekly email newsletters packed with practical tips, home exercises, free and low cost activities and more 

Anyone over 60 who lives in Camden can take part – you can sign up any time between May and July 2026.   

Join Active for Life

Free one-day Better Leisure Centre day pass   

The first 250 Camden residents aged 60 and over to sign up will receive a free one-day pass to use at any of Camden’s Better Leisure Centres. The day pass will allow you to enjoy all the group exercise classes, swimming, and gym facilities (T&Cs apply).  

You can use your pass at any time before Friday 28 August 2026. 

Free passes are only available to residents aged 60 and over who live in Camden.

If you or someone you know would like to join Active for Life but would prefer to complete a form in person, visit any of our partners below.   

You’ll also have the opportunity to get a free resistance band to help you exercise at home, take part in free taster classes that are suitable for all abilities, and meet others taking part in Active for Life at social drop-ins.   

Their friendly staff will be happy to help you sign up to take part, answer any questions and share information on the wide variety of physical activity options available near you.

Rise & Shine and Before I Sleep  

Rise & Shine focuses on light, energising movements to help wake up the body, improve circulation, and boost energy and vitality for the day ahead. 

Before I Sleep offers calming, slow exercises to relax the body and mind, ease tension, and support a restful and peaceful night’s sleep. 

Strength & Balance  

Strength & Balance is a supportive class for adults aged 60+ designed to improve strength, stability, and confidence in everyday movement.  

Gentle Fitness  

Gentle Fitness is a low-impact exercise class designed for adults aged 60+, focusing on improving strength, flexibility, balance, and overall wellbeing.

Qi Gong

A moving meditation using simple, graceful, and flowing movements. It's very similar to Tai Chi and helps to ease anxiety and stress, quietens your mind and Improves balance, stamina, and flexibility.

Men-only and women-only Pilates classes  

Two simultaneous 30‑minute classes – one for men and one for women. The classes are a great opportunity to try Pilates for the first time. Light refreshments will be available after the session.  

Walking in Nature and Gentle Gardening   

Come along for a guided walk in nature followed by a gentle gardening session. The session is fully accessible and will end with a light lunch.  

Tai Chi for Beginners   

A beginner friendly Tai Chi class focused on improving balance, flexibility, and mindfulness. This calm and accessible session will be followed by refreshments.
